Chandigarh, February 18

Light to moderate rain is likely from February 19-21 in Chandigarh.

According to the Chandigarh Meteorological Department, thunderstorm/lightning accompanied with gusty wind blowing at a speed of 40-60 kmph is expected on these days.

Hailstorm is also likely to occur on February 19 and 20. The city residents can also expect a rise in minimum temperatures by 3-4°C during the next two days and fall by 2-4°C thereafter.

The IMD had issued an advisory saying there could be felling of tree branches and risk due to flying debris or objects. Lightning strike on vulnerable locations like large trees, electricity towers/poles, water bodies and building tops was also possible. Hail may damage cars, windows and sheds. The change in weather could cause disruptions of services like supply of water and power.

Traffic congestion due to slippery roads and low visibility may increase travel time and make driving conditions tough. As per the advisory, minor damage to kutcha houses, huts and weak structures could be caused.
