Chandigarh, February 5

A round of golf at the Forest Hills Golf and Country Club, on the edge of the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary, is on the cards for the city’s golf enthusiasts as the resort facility opens its doors to the public after resolving legal formalities.

As existing golf courses get busier and less open to newcomers, Forest Hills is a good addition as it offers a nine-hole course along with a state-of-the-art driving range and academy. Also on the anvil are plans to relay some of the greens to make the course more player-friendly.

The first green is already under construction and will make the course more compact, allowing comfortable access to all existing facilities. The second hole will now play as a short par-4 after work starts on the second green, following the renovation of the first. The greens are also being contoured and landscaped to enhance the experience of playing this course.

Birinder Singh Gill, president of the Forest Hills Golf Resort, said those who want to learn the sport are welcome at the course. “This is an ideal facility for beginners to learn the game, for ladies who want to try their hand at the sport and for young golfers,” he said. “We plan to kick-start the range and eventually make it the number one range in the country for upcoming golfers.”

Gill and his staff hope to have the new greens in play before the monsoon.
