Fireworks display amidst religious chants in Mohali

The Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram in Ayodhya was celebrated by residents with great fervour. Mohali, Kharar, Dera Bassi, Kurali and other parts of the district witnessed a flurry of activities in temples, religious institutions and homes.

People witnessed the Pran Pratishtha in Ayodhya on TV in large groups amidst devotional songs and chants of Lord Ram in the afternoon. Tea, snacks, sweets and “langar” (community feast) was distributed at several places.

In Kharar, a yajna of 108 “havan kund” was performed for the well-being of all on the auspicious occasion when the Pran Pratishtha was being held. The Bus Stand Market Association also organised a feast to mark the occasion.

In the evening, people performed pooja and lit up their homes with earthen lamps to welcome Lord Ram in their dwellings.

Devotees said Shri Ram Temple in Kharar was being constructed at a cost of more than Rs 25 crore and would be completed soon. A tall 118-feet-statue of Lord Ram would be installed near the Ajj Sarovar which would be visible from far and wide, they said.

Plans are also being made by devotees to visit Ayodhya Temple in buses and trains soon.

At Phase 3B2 market, Mohali MLA Kulwant Singh congratulated people of the district. “It is a historic day for all of us. The day has come after almost 500 years as devotees had to struggle for a long time. I want to convey my best wishes and pray to Lord Ram that he fulfils desires of everybody,” the MLA said.

Devotees also gathered at Bhagwan Shree Parsuram Mandir Dharamshala Avam Shivalay, Industrial Area, Phase 9, Mohali, to celebrate the Ram Temple consecration ceremony.
