Ambala: Factory preparing fake body lotion, shampoo busted

The CIA-2 unit of the Ambala police busted another factory manufacturing fake shampoo and body lotion here today.

As per information, the police got a tip-off that a factory preparing fake products was operating near Mohra village in Ambala Cantonment. Following the information, a raid was conducted and the team recovered finished goods worth lakhs of rupees, besides a huge quantity of raw material. A person was also arrested from the factory. The police collected the samples and sealed the factory.

CIA-2 in-charge Virender Walia said: “A factory manufacturing fake products was busted in the Parao area of Ambala Cantonment today. Finished goods and raw material worth lakhs of rupees have been recovered. They were preparing fake shampoo and body lotion and selling these in the market. Filling machines, packing material, empty bottles and tubes have also been recovered. One person has been arrested and a case is being registered at the Parao police station. Further investigation is on.”

A factory manufacturing fake shampoo, face wash and body lotion was busted in the Mahesh Nagar area on Thursday.

The police had arrested two persons and recovered finished goods worth around Rs5 lakh from the factory, besides a huge quantity of raw material.

According to the police spokesman, two workers - Bhupinder Singh and Sri Ram of Ambala - were arrested. The accused were produced before a court, which sent them to three-day police remand on Friday.

During the raid, the team recovered Sunsilk and Clinic Plus shampoo, Ponds face wash and Vaseline body lotion from the factory. Eight drums of raw material, empty bottles, labels, stickers, packing machine and other products were also recovered.

On a complaint of Sumit Kumar, a resident of Delhi, a case was registered under Section 420 of the IPC and Sections 63 and 65 of the Copyright Act at the Mahesh Nagar police station.

Sumit said he was authorised by Hindustan Unilever to check the products. He found that duplicate products were being filled in bottles and sold in the market.
