Panchkula, January 30

A Pinjore resident was duped of Rs 8.13 lakh.

Rakesh Kumar, a retired Army man, said he was trying to transfer money from his account in PNB to the post office bank. After various failed attempts, he tried to get in touch with the bank helpline. He contacted the number available on the Internet.

The complainant stated that on calling the phone number, the respondent assured him of getting a call from the bank. “I received calls from different numbers and was asked to install a mobile application. I did as directed. They also collected some important information from me. Soon after, an amount of over Rs 8.13 lakh was deducted from my bank account.”
