Panchkula, May 28

After a two-day suspension (today and tomorrow) owing to non-availability of stock, the vaccination for the 18-44 age group in the district will reopen during the second drive-through vaccination programme to be held on May 30 at Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Sector 3. Dr Meenu Sasan, District Immunisation Officer, said as they had run out of stock for the 18-44 age group, the vaccination for the particular age bracket did not take place today.

Meanwhile, 1,000 beneficiaries, including healthcare workers, frontline workers, those in the 45-59 age group and above 60, were vaccinated today. “The stock for the 18-44 age group will arrive by tomorrow. Hence, the vaccination for this age group will restart during the second drive-through vaccination camp on May 30,” she said.

She said the vaccine supplies for the 18-44 age group were being delivered in a phased manner, prompting them to halt vaccination when the current stock ran out. Even on May 27, only 175 people in the 18-44 age group were vaccinated due to limited stock. Panchkula aims to vaccinate over 2.5 lakh people in the 18-44 age group.

Over 37,000 have already been vaccinated since the beginning of drive for this age group on May 2.

Overall, the district has vaccinated 2.10 lakh people so far. — TNS
