Chandigarh, January 20

The moment has finally arrived for hundreds of anxious parents, eagerly waiting to see their wards admission in local prominent schools.

The draw of lots for entry-level classes in various schools has already started. Tender Heart School, Sector 33, has already held their draw of lots. Seven other prominent schools, including Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 33, Carmel Convent, Sector 9, St John’s School, Sector 26, Sacred Heart School, Sector 26, St Anne’s, Sector 32 and Gurukul Global School, are scheduled to conduct their draw of lots for entry-level classes this week.

In majority of schools, the draw will be held online. Earlier, it was announced that the first 20 parents from the students’ eligibility list would be allowed to attend the draw in schools. However, following the rise in the number of Covid cases, the number of parents has been limited to five.

Sources claimed that Bhavan Vidyalaya received a maximum number of applications for admission to entry-level classes. Their draw is scheduled for January 22.

“This has been truly tense period for us. We have applied in many schools, but we want to get through the admission process of Bhavan or Sacred Heart. Let’s see what comes next, but this has been a real test for us,” said Bhavika Joshi, a parent.

Besides Bhavan, all other schools have their draw of lots on January 21. This is the second consecutive year, when draws will be held online.

“We are hoping to get through Carmel Convent’s admission process. This is our second attempt after failing to get admission in entry-level class last year. Everyone wants a good future for their child. And getting admission in desired school is one of the most important step for achieving this aim,” said Mithali, another parent.

“We want our child to study in Gurukul Global School as it is near our home. My husband prays day and night for this to happen. It will help us save time in travelling to pick and drop our child from school,” said Ankit Gupta, a parent. Various other schools are scheduled to hold draws of lots next week.

Vaccinated parents can attend draw of lots

Parents eligible to attend draw of lots in schools have been asked to bring their Covid vaccination certificates. Only five fully vaccinated parents will be allowed to attend draw of lots on premises of schools.
