Don't play vendetta politics behind scenes, Balbir Sidhu tells Kulwant Singh

Surprise checking by the team of the Election Commission at the residence of Mohali Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu’s house late last night was a result of frustration of the Opposition on seeing his brother’s clear win in the coming Assembly poll tomorrow.

Stating this to the media here today at the party office, former Cabinet Minister and the Congress candidate from Mohali, Balbir Singh Sidhu, dared the local AAP candidate, Kulwant Singh, to take on the political fight with him and not play some vendetta politics behind the scenes.

Sidhu said though the search team suddenly reached Jetti’s residence without any written complaint, yet we fully cooperated. However, the team failed to find anything from the house except some machines kept for distribution among physically challenged children and some sarees and suits in packs labelled as gifts from festivals, Sidhu added.

While clarifying on some machines found at his brother’s residence during search Sidhu said, “On World Disabled Day, we distribute machines, tricycles, wheelchairs etc among physically challenged children to remember my Olympian elder brother late Baldev Singh Sidhu, who played a big role in my political career.”

“From the past 27 years since my brother died, we been distributing machines and other articles among disabled. How could someone could object to this now?” Sidhu added. “In my long political career I never did anything wrong. It is a clear case of political vendetta to tarnish me and my family’s name and good will on the direction of the AAP’s Mohali candidate. I have reached this position of my political career with long years of hard work,” said Sidhu.

“I have been living in Mohali for over 40 years. Everyone knows me and my family,” Sidhu added.

Sidhu alleged that no action was taken on his complaint against the Mohali AAP candidate, who was distributing suits among women in Daun village after the implementation of the code of conduct.

Accusing the AAP candidate of taking control of Mohali with his money power, Sidhu said he earlier tried to maintain a monopoly with Badals. Now, he had control on cable and internet networks, Sidhu added. “What will happen if such a person wins Assembly poll,” said Sidhu.
