Development ended in Mohali under Congress ‘misrule’: Sukhbir

SAD (B) president Sukhbir Singh Badal today claimed that his party-led previous government in the state had made Mohali the most progressive constituent of the tricity by spending Rs3,000 crore on development works.

Sukhbir Badal, who was addressing a public congregation at Sohana, said the last four years of the Congress ‘misrule’ had witnessed an end to the development as well as the investment into the city.

The SAD chief claimed that the international airport, four-lane road network, the International School of Business and Infosys came to the town during the previous Akali government. He alleged that the Congress rule witnessed rampant corruption and even usurping of village common land by Cabinet Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu. “This is the reason why you don’t see any more investment being made here and this is also one of the reasons why the per capita income of Punjab has for the first time became lower than the national average,” he claimed.

He said whatever former Mayor Kulwant Singh had achieved was due to the SAD and now he had allegedly backstabbed his parent party. He said Kulwant and his team would not be allowed to rejoin the SAD. Sukhbir Badal said Kulwant was trying to befool people with false promises of constructing flyovers. “The corporation is in a loss of Rs25 crore. How will he get Rs600 crore to construct the flyovers he has promised,” asked the SAD chief.

Mohali SAD president Kamaljit Singh Ruby was also present on the occasion.
