Panchkula, April 7
Decks have been cleared for the construction of the Army Nursing College at Bataur village, Haryana Assembly Speaker and Panchkula legislator Gian Chand Gupta said after his meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
The college will be run by the Western Command Headquarters of the Indian Army and nearly 10 acres of land has been allotted by the Haryana Government for the purpose.
In February 2019, the state government had transferred the land to
the Western Command Headquarters but the construction of the college could not start due to lack of funds.
Gupta has now requested the Defence Minister for an early release of funds for the construction.
Gupta, who met the Defence Minister in New Delhi on Monday, also requested for the setting up of a defence equipment manufacturing industry on the HMT land in Pinjore.
The Panchkula legislator told Singh that about 800 acre of land with the HMT unit in Pinjore, which was closed due to heavy losses, would be properly utilised if a defence equipment manufacturing industry was set up there.
