Deputy Commissioner Amit Talwar today reviewed the work on the 92 black spots (accident-prone areas) during a meeting of the road safety committee, which was held at the District Administrative Complex.

Divulging details, Sukhwinder Singh, Secretary, Regional Transport Authority, Mohali, said the DC directed officials of various departments related to roads like the NHAI, GMADA, the B&R and the Municipal Corporation to seek advice of road safety engineers’ wing adviser Navdeep Hasija in advance before fixing these black spots.

He said action taken by the district-level committee constituted by Talwar under the Safe School Transport Scheme was also reviewed during the meeting. It was also directed that the inspection committee constituted under the scheme should conduct unannounced checks of the buses taking children to and from schools and ensure kids’ safety in these vehicles.
