Zirakpur, September 6

A day after a protest demonstration at Harmilap Nagar, Raipur Kalan, on the Chandigarh-Ambala track, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) today booked Pratap Singh Rana and 35 unidentified persons for obstructing running of train and entering the Railways premises with mala fide intention to destroy the property.

The protesters, led by Rana, president of a joint action committee for the welfare of Baltana residents, were protesting against the UT Administration and railway officials, demanding early construction of an underpass at the crossing so as to end harassment to commuters as well as area residents. The protesters laid down on the track, delaying the Kalka-Delhi Janshatabdi for close to 10 minutes. Police force reached the spot and removed the protesters from the track.

RPF inspector Amarinderjit Singh said, “A case was registered against Pratap Singh Rana and 35 other unidentified persons under Sections 147 and 174-A of the Railways Act at the Chandigarh railway police station on September 5. The investigation in the case is going on and more persons are likely to be named in the case.”
