DAV college wins 'Vitarka' 2020

Mohali: The Army Institute of Law, Mohali, organized its first inter-college conventional debate competition, 'Vitarka', on Thursday. As many as 10 teams from the tricity debated on ‘Consumerism in Developing Nations: A Boon or A Bane’. DAV College, Chandigarh, won the competition which was judged by Dr Sandeep Sarang, Associate Professor, Government College for Girls, Sector 11, Dr Shruti Bedi, Associate Professor, UILS, Panjab University, and Reshmi Prabhakar, Asst Prof from Mohali college. Food official visits Mohali

Mohali: Punjab State Food Commission member AK Sharma visited the district to review the implementation of the National Food Security Act, 2013, on Thursday. AK Sharma checked the distribution of ration at the Sohana and Saneta depots. No complaint from any beneficiary was registered. He directed the officials concerned to keep measuring devices at the depots. He also visited the anganwadi centre in Sohana, besides the school in Bairampur village. TNS

Best book awards

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi (CSA) has declared the best book awards for those authored by writers from the UT and printed during 2019. The CSA Chairman, Madhav Kaushik, said the awards carry a cash prize of Rs 25,000 each. English: Manju Jaidka (poetry), Anuradha Bhattacharya (novel) and Sulekha Sharma (short story). Hindi: Neena Deep (poetry), Manohar Shukla (short story) and Vijay kapoor (translation). Punjabi: Jung Bahadur Goyal (novel), Deepak Sharma Chanarthal (poetry), Prem Gorkhy (short story) and Malkiat Basara (translation). Urdu: Renu Behl (novel) and Rashmi Sharma (poetry).
