Covid curbs to stay, no new relaxations in Chandigarh

The Chandigarh administration seeks improvement in the the vaccination rate in the 15-18 age category

Reviewing the Covid preparedness of the city, UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit today directed all officials to step up the fight against Covid-19. The Administrator expressed satisfaction over the efforts made by the Administration, but stressed on adopting a different strategy to improve the testing rate.

The Administrator lauded the aggressive approach followed by the Health Department in vaccinating the target population, but also asked to improve the vaccination rate in the 15-18 age category, which is currently 66.37 per cent. Urging city residents to get themselves vaccinated, the Administrator said, “Vaccination is the only way to protect ourselves from the grip of the virus”. Purohit ordered to continue the previous restrictions without any relaxations. —
