Chandigarh, May 31

After a break of two days, Chandigarh reported four new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday, taking the Union Territory's case tally to 293.

Bapu Dham Colony, which has reported the majority of cases in the city, recorded the two new cases of the deadly disease. A 42-year-old woman and a 20-year-old woman, both contacts of a person who had previously tested positive, were on Sunday confirmed to have contracted the disease.

A 27-year-old girl, who had returned from abroad on the intervening night of May 26-27, also tested positive for the contagion on Sunday. The Sector 9 resident was quarantined at the Mountview hotel in Sector 10 after her return.

A 40-year-old male, a resident of Khuda Ali Sher, has tested positive for COVID-19 as per the report received from the PGIMER. He is in isolation at GMSH-16.

With the latest cases, the active cases in the city shot up to 90.

No new case had been reported from the city in the past two days. On Saturday, ten COVID patients — nine from Bapu Dham and one from Dhanas — were discharged from an ayurvedic college in Sector 46 today.
