Chandigarh to host Asian Dragon Boat Championship

Chandigarh, September 18

The Indian Kayaking and Canoeing Association (IKCA) in association with the Haryana Kayaking & Canoeing Association (HKCA), announced to organise the Asian Dragon Boat Championship at Sukhna Lake as soon as international travel restrictions are lifted. The event was earlier scheduled to be held in Indore.

Various Asian countries will participate in the competition, said IKCA life president Balbir Singh Kushwaha.

“The Indian team plans to undergo vigorous training post-Covid to prepare for the forthcoming Asian Games. We are very much hopeful of getting a few medals in the Asian Games,” said Kushwaha.

The annual general meeting of the IKCA was also held today during which Paramjit Singh Ahlawat was unanimously elected as its chairman.

Satya Pal Khatri is the new president and Kuldeep Solanki will be the general secretary.

Bilquis Mir, the first water sports coach from the Kashmir Valley, also attended the meeting.
