Chandigarh, February 17

With a sharp drop in fresh Covid-19 cases, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to close mini-Covid care centres.

The decision was taken at a meeting, chaired by UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit, with senior officials of the UT Administration to review the Covid situation in the city.

Due to the decline in Covid-19 cases, the Administrator decided to lift most of the Covid-19 restrictions in the city. Citing this as the last review meeting for now, he urged residents to “be vigilant and not to lower the guard.” He stressed on following social distancing protocol and wearing masks in public places.

The Administrator appreciated the hard work of health workers, frontline workers and doctors, who have consistently been on their toes to tackle unforeseen situations posed by the pandemic.

The OPD timings of the PGI have also been increased, which were earlier opened only for an hour.

With a steady decline in Covid cases, the Administrator directed the closure of the mini-Covid care centres for now. These centres were opened for patients who did not have sufficient space/resources at home for treatment/quarantine.
