Chandigarh, April 14

Almost a week after a 19-year-old hotel management student committed suicide by hanging, the UT police booked his roommates for abetment to suicide.

The victim, a native of Delhi, who was staying at rented accommodation in Sector 41 along with other boys, took the extreme step after his friends and a girl reportedly recorded his video in which he was made to confess that he allegedly molested the girl while she was sleeping. The victim was made to apologise for the act.

The victim’s mother had alleged that her son’s roommates harassed him and drove him to suicide.

A case has been registered against the suspects at the Sector 39 police station.
