Chandigarh reports record 1,834 new Covid cases—its highest yet

The UT’s active Covid-19 cases stand at 7,259, a 548 per cent rise since last Friday

Chandigarh reported 1,834 new Covid-19 cases over the last 24 hours, a new health bulletin showed.

Chandigarh’s been reporting an alarming uptick in Covid-19 cases since last week—the UT’s active Covid-19 cases stand at 7,257, a 548 per cent rise since last Friday. The UT added 7,262 cases since last Saturday, and 59 per cent of that number was added in the last three days alone.

The UT reported two more fatalities on Friday—a 44-year-old unvaccinated man who was diabetic and suffered from kidney problems and a 50-year-old fully vaccinated woman who suffered from hypertension. Chandigarh’s total fatality count since the pandemic began stands at 1,086.

Chandigarh’s positivity rate stands at 25.21 per cent.
