Chandigarh, November 15

Chandigarh's air quality remained 'moderate' during the Diwali festival owing to a ban on sale or use of all kinds of firecrackers.

In the last three years, the air quality remained under the category of 'poor' or 'very poor' in the city.

According to an analysis of air quality index (AQI) recorded by air quality monitoring station in Sector 25, the AQI was 128 at 10 pm on Diwali. It falls under the 'moderate' category.

Bursting of firecrackers could be heard in parts of Chandigarh even though a ban was imposed on its sale. People bought crackers from Panchkula or Mohali where there was a fixed time to burst crackers.
