Chandigarh reports 75 new coronavirus cases, one fatality

Chandigarh, August 11

Chandigarh reported 75 new coronavirus cases and one more fatality on Tuesday, taking the union territory’s tally to 1,670 with 26 deaths.

An 81-year-old woman from Sector 43 tested died at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research on Monday, hours after she tested positive. She had a history of heart problems and had a stent.

Forty-seven of the UT’s 75 new cases were detected through RT-PCR tests for COVID-19, Chandigarh’s evening medical bulletin said. The rest were found through the rapid antigen tests.

Seven of the new cases were people over 60---four of these over 65.

Chandigarh has 628 active cases.
