Chandigarh, February 24

Leg-spinner Rajni Devi and right-arm medium-pacer Priyanka Guleria shared seven wickets between them as Chandigarh registered a 10-wicket win over Arunachal Pradesh in their Women’s Senior One Day Trophy Plate Group match at the SLIMS Cricket Ground in Pondicherry today.

Opting to bat, Arunachal girls were bowled out for a paltry 45 in 26.3 overs. Rajni returned figures of 4/10, while Priyanka took 3/2 in her four overs.

After a subdued beginning, Arunachal lost opener Neelam Rajput and B Ritu in quick succession. While Neelam was clean bowled by Kumari Shibi on 10, Ritu was run out on naught as Arunachal slumped to 26/2 in 11.3 overs.

Chandigarh skipper Amanjot Kaur then brought Rajni Devi into the attack, and the leg spinner got rid of Jyoti Yadav (6) and Nabam Yapu (0) in one over to spell more trouble for Arunachal Pradesh.

Struggling at 37/4, Arunachal lost their next five batters without any addition to the total. Meena fell to Priyanka after facing 48 balls for her 18, while Pebi Gara was cleaned up by Rajni on zero. The spinner struck again, removing J Basar on a duck.

Priyanka castled T Doimari (0) before getting rid of S Ligu (0). Amanjot then dismissed captain Mari Ado on 1 to pack off the Arunachal innings on 45.

Chandigarh, in reply, romped home in 10.4 overs with all the 10 wickets intact. Monika Pandey made an unbeaten 18, while Amanjot contributed a 31-ball 25 to the chase.

With today’s win, Chandigarh are placed second in the Plate Group with 12 points. Hosts Pondicherry with equal points but a better net run rate lead table, while Nagaland occupy the third spot with 12 points from four matches.

Amanjot-led side will now face Pondicherry on February 27.
