Chandigarh also topped the Tricity, with Mohali securing 419 and Panchkula 358 points. Performance Grading Index (PGI) is a relatively new parameter to measure the performance of states in school education.

The PGI-D structure comprises total weightage of 600 points across 83 indicators grouped under six categories i.e. outcomes, effective classroom transaction, infrastructure facilities & student’s entitlements, school safety & child protection, digital learning and governance process.

The objective is to help districts prioritise areas for intervention in school education and thus improve the grade. In the 2021 Performance Grading Index (PGI), Chandigarh was second best in the school rankings.
