Car knocks down 2 women, one killed

Kharar, January 22

Sonia (35), a resident of the nearby Ghoga village, was killed, while Paramjit Kaur of the same village was seriously injured when they were knocked down by a speeding car near the village last evening.

Davinder Singh, husband of the deceased, told the police that his wife used to work in Kharar and was returning to the village after work. Paramjit Kaur was also accompanying her. They were standing on the roadside around 5 pm waiting to cross the road when a speeding car (PB 65 AB 9719) knocked them down. Sonia died on the spot, while Parmajit was seriously injured and admitted to the Civil Hospital.

ASI Bhupinder Kumar, in-charge, Majat police post, said a case under Sections 304 A, 279 and 337 of the IPC had been registered against the unidentified car driver. — OC
