Capturing IAF assets on camera banned

Show comments

Ambala, July 13

To avert a breach of confidentiality, Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh today imposed a ban on photography and videography of any assets of the Air Force Station in Ambala Cantonment.

In the orders, which came into immediate effect, the DC said it had come to his notice that people living in the colonies on the West of the Air Force Station took photos and videos of the planes flying or taking off. Due to this, the confidentiality of the Air Force Station was breached and anti-social elements could take undue advantage of it, he added.

The order read that keeping in view the security situation, apart from concerns of a threat to privacy, nuisance and trespass, it was extremely dangerous to let unmanned aerial vehicles wander around in the skies within the territorial jurisdiction of Ambala. — TNS

Violators to be prosecuted

In the prohibtion order, Ambala Deputy Commissioner Vikram Singh stated that those found violating the ban would be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code.
