Bus rams into truck, 10 hurt

At least 10 persons were injured as a Punjab Roadways bus hit a stationary truck on the Jandli flyover on the Delhi-Chandigarh road here this morning.

The injured were identified as bus driver Sawan Singh, conductor Gursewak Singh and passengers Aman Sharma, Omveer, Lalchand, Rakesh Kumar, Munni, Kalpana, Khalkesh, and Sudha. Some other passengers sustained minor injuries.

While two of the injured, including the bus driver, were referred to the GMCH-32, the remaining persons were provided medical attention at the Civil Hospital, Ambala City.

As per information, the bus was on its way from Delhi to Chandigarh and met with the mishap around 5:40 am. In his complaint to the police, the bus conductor alleged that the truck sans reflectors was parked without flashing the indicators.

There were nearly 26 passengers in the bus.

A case has been registered under Sections 283 and 337 of the IPC at the Baldev Nagar police station.

Investigating officer Sushil Kumar said, “The truck driver has been arrested. He will be produced in a court on Saturday.”
