Zirakpur, January 23

A large section of BJP office-bearers of Zirakpur, Dera Bassi and Lalru resigned from their posts in protest against the announcement of realtor Sanjeev Khanna as the BJP candidate from the Dera Bassi Assembly seat.

They would, however, continue to be associated with the party, the office-bearers said.

The disgruntled section of the BJP office-bearers and workers held a meeting in Dera Bassi today and appealed to the party’s senior leadership to reconsider its decision.

General Secretary Subhash Sharma and senior leader Rajesh Bagga have assured them to take up the matter with the high command.

The BJP ignored Dera Bassi Mandal in-charge Mukesh Gandhi and district BJP president Sushil Rana who were tipped as the frontrunners for the ticket.
