Chandigarh, February 28

Crime Branch of the UT police has busted a module of the Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang with the arrest of three shooters, who were in the city to eliminate gangster Bhupinder Singh Rana, alias Bhupi Rana, during a court hearing. Bhupi Rana has several cases against him and is lodged in the jail.

The police said Sunny, alias Sachin, and Umang, both residents of Rohtak; and Kailash Chauhan, alias Tiger, of Faridabad, had been arrested. The trio had planned to shoot gangster Bhupi Rana at the District Courts, for which they had purchased clothes and gowns to disguise as lawyers. Two pistols and six cartridges were also recovered from the accused.

Sunny and Umang were nabbed near the District Courts, Sector 43, on February 26, while they were carrying out a recce. Disclosures made by them led to the arrest of Kailash.

The police said the accused’s interrogation revealed that Goldy Brar had directed them to eliminate Bhupi Rana at the court.

The accused were provided transportation, shelter money and weapons by others on the directions of Vicky Chauhan, Goldy Brar’s aide.

“The accused had also conducted a recce of the District Courts in Panchkula and Mohali,” said a police official.
