Zirakpur, November 25

In view of the ‘Delhi Chalo’ call by farmers, the Mohali police have issued a traffic advisory requesting commuters not to undertake any non-essential travel on the Chandigarh-Zirakpur-Delhi and Patiala-Zirakpur-Chandigarh routes.

Alternative routes have been provided through Chandigarh-Panchkula-Nada Sahib-Yamunanagar-Delhi and a diversion from the Chhat light point towards Mohali.

District traffic police in-charge Gurjot Singh Kaler held a meeting with Zirakpur DSP (Traffic) Guriqbal Singh, DSP Amroz Singh and Inspector Omvir Singh regarding the arrangements here today.

The police also reviewed the traffic arrangements in Dera Bassi and Lalru.

The information regarding alternative routes will also be provided through banners at strategic locations.

Kaler said: “We are trying to provide diversions at the Kalka chowk to the normal traffic moving towards Delhi. Diversions are being made at Singhpura Chowk and McDonald’s point so that normal traffic is unhindered. Also, diversion has been made at Chhat village so that there is no hassle for commuters. We are working in coordination with the police of adjoining cities of Panchkula and Mohali.”

The police said additional manpower and barricades have been deployed and round-the-clock vigil will be undertaken in the coming days.
