Another leopard reported, in Chandigarh’s Sector 44; patrolling to continue in night

On Monday, a wild cat was successfully tranquillised after being spotted roaming around in Sector 5

Reports of a leopard seen at the Sector 34/44 dividing road on Monday night led to a scare among the locals.

Police said they received information about a leopard roaming in the area, following which a search was launched. The UT Forest Department was also alerted.

Foerst officials said patrolling will continue through the night.

Inspector Baldev Kumar, SHO, Sector 34 police station, said an announcement has been made asking people to stay indoors. 

Police said the residents are also being asked to check the backyards and lawns. 

On Monday, a leopard was successfully tranquillised after being spotted roaming around in Sector 5 in Chandigarh. After the wild cat was spotted at 8.15 am, Chandigarh Police and the Wildlife department were alerted. 

The feline was trapped by forest officials after hectic efforts of over five hours and was later let out in the Morni forests.
