Chandigarh, February 11

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today staged a protest here against the BJP over alleged discrepancies in holding mayoral election in Chandigarh on January 30.

An effigy of BJP Lok Sabha Member Kirron Kher was burnt during the protest in front of the Municipal Corporation office in Sector 17.

It was demanded that immediate action should be taken against nominated councilor and presiding officer Anil Masih, Lok Sabha Member Kirron Kher and all BJP councillors who were responsible for “murdering democracy” during the mayor election.

Speaking on this occasion, SS Ahluwalia alleged that democracy has been murdered by Masih, Kher and their councillors on the day of election of poll. Aam Aadmi Party has been on a hunger strike in front of the Municipal Corporation for the past eight days.

“There is a lot of anger among the people of not only Chandigarh but the entire country over the cancellation of eight votes by the BJP. Even the strict observations of the Honourable Supreme Court have had no effect on the deceitful BJP and administrative officials, due to which no action has been taken against any of the accused so far,” he said.

He said the AAP will go to every ward of Chandigarh and show the real face of the BJP to the people. “Every section is troubled by the fraudulent politics of BJP.”
