Chandigarh, January 4

As many as 75 constables were inducted into the ranks of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police during an impressive passing-out parade held at the Basic Training Centre, Bhanu, near Chandigarh, today.

Inspector General Ishwar Singh Duhan reviewed the parade and took the salute. Congratulating the newly passed-out constables, Duhan expressed the confidence that the training imparted here had laid a strong foundation for their future in the force. He exhorted them to follow the ideals of honesty and discipline and strive for excellence in all spheres of life.

The constables, including eight women, belonged to the 166th batch of the non-general duty cadre. They underwent a tough training regimen of 24 weeks that included drill, weapon, map reading and field craft.

The parade was commanded by Constable Gurdeep, while Constable Preeti Goderaj was adjudged the best trainee. — TNS
