Mohali, March 28

More than 55,600 LPG gas cylinders have been supplied to people in the district through 31 gas agencies during the curfew imposed owing to the Covid-19 outbreak.

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said in the wake of huge demand triggered due to panic, there is no shortage of LPG as sufficient stock is available in the district. He exhorted the public not to panic.

Girish Dayalan said directions have been issued to gas agencies not to undertake second booking for a gas cylinder refill from an LPG connection holder/consumer before two weeks. This has been done in to prevent hoarding by residents. The DC said a release order for supplying of 774 metric tonnes of wheat to big flour mills/ ‘atta chakkies’ in the district has been placed with the FCI. The ‘atta chakkies’ would supply it to provision stores for replenishing their stocks. He said they were coordinating with Sugarfed. There was sufficient rice available in the district to cater to the demand in the curfew period, he added. — TNS
