4 more lose life in Mohali, toll 167

The district on Tuesday witnessed four fatalities due to Covid-19, taking the toll to 167. It also witnessed 188 fresh cases, taking the total number of infections to 8,701.

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Manjit Singh, said a 56-year-old man from Desu Majra died of Covid-19. He was suffering from diabetes and hypertension. A 57-year-old man from Manauli also breathed his last. He had a heart ailment. Both of them died at a hospital in Sohana. He said a 73-year-old man from Mubarikpur also died of the virus today. A 68-year-old man from Dera Bassi also lost his life. He was suffering from diabetes and hypertension. Both patients died at the GMCH, Patiala.

Of the total fresh infections, 84 cases were reported from Mohali (urban), 16 from Kharar, 34 from Gharuan, 43 from Dhakoli, three from Dera Bassi, two from Banur and three each from Boothgarh and Kurali.

Meanwhile, 267 patients were cured or discharged today.

The district has so far reported 8,701 cases, while 5,975 patients have been cured of the virus. There are 2,559 active cases. The district has seen 167 Covid deaths so far. —TNS
