31-year-old Punjab magistrate dies after SUV rams into pole in Chandigarh

A 31-year-old judicial magistrate died and his friend was injured after their SUV rammed into a pole on the Sectors 16/23 dividing road during the wee hours of Friday. 

The magistrate, Sahil Singla, was posted at Pathankot and was a Sangrur native.  

They were rushed to Government Multi Specialty Hospital, Sector 16. Singla was later taken to the PGI, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Singla’s friend, a lawyer, was admitted to a private hospital in Mohali.

Singla had come to Chandigarh to attend a wedding and was accompanied by his wife and friends.

Singla and his friend were in a Toyota Crysta, while his wife, Radhika, and other friends were following them in another car. They were staying at Judicial Academy, Sector 43, from where they left for the night food street outside Panjab University, at about 1.30 am. 

Preliminary investigation showed that the SUV was being driven at a high speed and Singla was behind the wheel. The airbags of the SUV got inflated after it rammed into the pole.
