Mohali, September 7

A 30-bed hospital being upgraded from a dispensary in Phase 3B1 here will be thrown open to public by November this year.

Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu announced this while inspecting the ongoing work of the hospital building. He was accompanied by Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu, Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal and Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi.

Balbir Singh Sidhu gave strict instructions to officials to complete the work in a time-bound manner. Any negligence in this work would not be tolerated.

Sidhu said in order to provide better healthcare facilities to people, infrastructure in Mohali was being strengthened on a large scale. The 30-bed hospital would have two operation theatres, five private rooms, a general ward and an OPD, besides specialist doctors.

Meanwhile, Sidhu also visited the nine acres of land cleared by GMADA in Sector 66 where a new civil hospital is to be set up. It may be recalled that a medical college would be constructed on the site of the old Civil Hospital located in Phase 6 here. He also directed the authorities to start the construction work of the civil hospital as soon as possible. — TNS
