Chandigarh, February 23

Three motorcycle-borne youths opened fire at a Dadu Majra resident last night. The assailants, who were later arrested, had uploaded a video on Instagram, claiming to have acted on the directions of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence Bishnoi.

The victim, Rinku, escaped unhurt as the assailants chased him and shot at him while he was returning from a function.

The police said one shot was fired by the three assailants who were riding a motorcycle. They tried to fire again outside the complainant’s house but their pistol malfunctioned, after which they fled the scene.

A CCTV camera installed outside Rinku’s house captured the incident. Soon after the incident, the accused issued threats to the victim via the Instagram post. The suspects claimed that they acted on the directions of Anmol Bishnoi, who is in the US. They stated that next time, they won’t spare Rinku. Through the post, the assailants also warned Laddoo and told him to stay away from Rinku.

The police reached the spot and started investigation. Sources said a live cartridge was found at the spot.

The police said the incident was the fallout of an old enmity between the complainant and the accused.

A case of attempt to murder and under the Arms Act has been registered at the Maloya police station. The police arrested suspects Sourav, alias Noni (24); Sahil, alias Bread (24); and Shubham, alias Billu (22), all residents of Dadu Majra Colony. The police said two weapons, five cartridges and the bike used in the crime had been recovered from them.
