3-day mango fair at Pinjore Garden from tomorrow

Over 200 varieties to be on display

The 29th Mango Fair will be organised at the Yadavindra Gardens, Pinjore, from July 8 to 10. More than 200 varieties of mango will be displayed at the three-day event, which will be held jointly by the Haryana Tourism Corporation and the Horticulture Department.

Neeraj Kumar, Managing Director, Haryana Tourism Corporation, said Tourism and Forests Minister Kanwar Pal would inaugurate the fair at 6 pm. Haryana Speaker Gian Chand Gupta will be the chief guest of the event on July 10.

  • A multi-cuisine food court
  • Craft market
  • Competitions, magic shows, kite-flying events
  • Performance by Sufi singer Kanwar Grewal and Punjabi singer Akhil on July 10

The tourism official said the Israeli Embassy would also participate in the fair this year and showcase its produce.

Neeraj Kumar said a multi-cuisine food court would be set up to serve mouth-watering dishes, including Indian street food as well as the taste of Punjab, the subtle aroma of the South and the oriental taste of Chinese. Similarly, the craft market would be another additional attraction where handlooms and handicraft would be exhibited and sold “A large number of mango growers from across the country will participate in the fair and showcase their varieties of mangoes,” said Neeraj Kumar.

Deputy Commissioner Mahavir Kaushik said necessary guidelines had been given to district officials for maintaining law and order, parking of vehicles, health services, mobile toilets, arrangement of drinking water, etc, at the venue.
