27 scientists of Panjab University make it to elite list

Panjab University’s 27 scientists from various disciplines out of 2,313 Indian scientists have been included in the elite list of world top two per cent scientists.

Prof Surinder Kumar Mehta from Department of Chemistry is active in research areas like metallosurfactant chemistry, nano electrochemical sensors, synthesis and application of semiconducting nanoparticles and colloidal chemistry that includes noval formulations of drug delivery applications.

Prof Om Prakash Katare from University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (UIPS) is an expert in nano liposome technology and drug delivery with major focus on translational research and technology transfers to industry.

Dr Anurag Kuhad from the UIPS does research in neuropsychopharmacology, metabolic pharmacology, neuropathic pain and autism.

Prof Renu Chadha from the UIPS does research in crystal engineering of biologically active molecules by preparing their polymorph and co-crystals.

Dr Suman Mor of the Department of Environment Studies is engaged in research on air pollution monitoring, characterisation, source apportionment, health impacts assessment from biomass burning, thermal power plant, pollen and landfill emissions.

Prof Sonal Singhal from the Department of Chemistry has got Best Researcher Award 2018 under Purse Grant from the PU in chemical sciences.

Prof Navneet Kaur from the Department of Chemistry has research work related to application of organic chemistry and analytical studies in samples of environmental and biological importance. The main area of research work of Prof Surya Kant Tripathi from the Department of Physics is to develop materials and devices for different societal applications like solar cell, super capacitor devices, thermoelectric devices, chemical sensors, biological sensors, MIS/MOS, FET, memresistors, memory and telecommunication devices.

Prof Daizy Rani Batish from the Department of Botany, who does research in plant ecology and environment, has won various awards.
