243 on board, Jan Shatabdi back on track

Chandigarh, June 15

Two pairs of trains, which were cancelled during the second Covid-19 wave, resumed tracks at the Chandigarh railway station today. The Una-Delhi Jan Shatabdi ferried a total of 243 passengers from Chandigarh to Delhi at 7.38 am, said JP Singh, Station Superintendent, Chandigarh. “The second pair of train — Rishikesh to Sri Vaishno Devi (train number 04609/04610) — ferried 22 passengers to Vaishno Devi and 15 back to the city,” said JP Singh.

When Covid cases skyrocketed during the second wave, the division had cancelled special trains from April 29.

More Shatabdi trains from June 21

The Ambala Division has issued a notification stating “restoration of 21 more pairs of special trains”, out of which three pairs will ply over the city station from June 21. The New Delhi-Kalka and Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi (train number 02011, 02012) will chug off from the station on June 21. The New Delhi-Kalka (train number 2005) will leave from Delhi on June 21 and Kalka-New Delhi Shatabdi Special (train number 02006) will leave from Kalka to New Delhi on June 22. Also, New Delhi-Chandigarh, Chandigarh- New Delhi Shatabdi Special (train numbers 02045 and 02046) will ply over the Chandigarh station daily from June 21, except on Wednesdays.
