Meanwhile, in view of a large number of Covid cases surfacing in Mohali, the district administration has decided to register an FIR against the violators for non-compliance with directions issued by the state government.

Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said the increase in the number of cases in the past couple of days mandated breaking the human-to-human contact chain to contain the spread of the virus.

Going strict on enforcement of the safety protocol, he said, “No loitering will be permitted; safety protocol enforcement teams will not just issue a warning or challan violators but will register FIRs for non-compliance with directions of the state government.”

Dayalan also made an appeal to people to come out of the house only if absolutely essential.
