Two more Covid-19 cases have been reported from the city. They are contacts of an NRI couple from Sector 33-A which tested positive a couple of day ago.

Those who tested positive for the virus today are the 59-year-old mother of the man and a 10-month-old baby girl of the couple. All of them are admitted to the GMCH-32. The man’s father has, however, tested negative for Covid.

The NRI couple had returned from Canada on March 13. They developed symptoms on March 26 and got admitted to the GMCH two days later. Three secondary contacts (neighbours) of the couple have also been sampled at the GMCH and their reports are awaited. They are currently admitted to the GMCH. The couple’s four relatives, who live on the ground floor of the house, are under home quarantine and currently asymptomatic.

Sector 35 man’s wife, son test negative

The wife and a son of the 49-year-old Covid patient of Sector 35 have tested negative.

Houses at Faidan screened

The UT Health Department carried out a special drive at Faidan today. An IDSP team conducted a door-to-door survey of the area to locate persons with influenza-like illness symptoms. A total of 1,942 households were covered. While none with fever was reported, six residents were suffering cough and five others had a common cold. Thermal scanning was done on 112 persons. The survey was conducted in view of a positive case reported in the adjacent Jagatpura village, which falls in Punjab. — TNS
