On World Cancer Day, American Oncology Institute in Jammu launched a six-month long campaign “Nyla”, a movement for early detection and prevention of cancers in women.

“Nyla is a campaign in which we try to cater to all women population in rural and urban areas and will provide them free of cost screening. This mass population programme will continue till October 31.” Dr Surbhi Kudyar, a senior faculty member, said.

The campaign was launched by senior BJP leader Priya Sethi in presence of Dr Pavan Malhotra, director principal, ASCOMS and Hospital.

Sethi lauded the great initiative by American Oncology Institute in association with ASCOMS for the well-being of women, especially by bringing an awareness among masses against the most feared disease.

Dr Pavan Malhotra said, “Only 1 per cent of women in India undergo any sort of cancer screening process in a period of two years. It is the need of the hour to spread awareness about cancer among women.”

“Nyla volunteers will raise awareness and educate other women about the prevention and screening of cancers, talk to them about how they can reduce the risk of getting the most common cancers, have e?ective and supportive conversations about women’s health in general and encourage them to take positive steps towards a healthy and active life.” he said.
