New Delhi, February 15

Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das on Thursday warned that the fight against inflation has not yet ended because recurring food price shocks and renewed flashpoints on the geo-political front have emerged as major spoilsports in this respect.

Addressing the South East Asian Central Banks Governors Conference, the RBI chief also advocated re-energisation of multilateralism and in this respect suggested global pacts on dedicated corridors for critical minerals and food. “Such arrangements have to be fair and equitable,” he suggested.

“We remain vigilant to navigate through the last mile of disinflation as it is often the most difficult part of the journey. We firmly recognise that stable and low inflation will provide the necessary bedrock for sustainable economic growth,” he observed.

“Prudent fiscal policies have paved the path for India's success in sailing through these rough waters,” he said.
