Meeting to sort out glitches in new IT portal

The Union Finance Ministry has arranged an interactive three-way meeting between users of the new e-filing income tax portal, government officials and Infosys, the vendors of the portal, to discuss the glitches that have afflicted it since its launch on June 7.

The Finance Ministry has asked stakeholders to send in writing the difficulties they have faced in the portal and representatives from Infosys are expected to reply to them.

The meeting on June 22 will be interactive with other stakeholders including chartered accountants, auditors, consultants and taxpayers to be part of the interaction, according to an official news release.

The Government admits the new portal launched on June 7, after a week-long shutdown, is fraught with several technical glitches leading to taxpayer inconvenience. In fact, the portal was down on the first day of the launch and users have since then regularly complained about the difficulties they have faced.
