Indian Oil Corporation converts LNG tankers to carry medical oxygen

New Delhi, May 10

Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is converting 14 liquefied natural gas (LNG) tankers into medical grade oxygen carriers as the it steps in to augment oxygen-carrying capacity in the country. IOC said it had previously diverted high-purity oxygen used in its Mono Ethylene Glycol unit to produce medical liquid oxygen at its Panipat refinery. In the face of a massive surge in demand for medical oxygen, the oil major is supplying 270 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen per day to the hospitals in Delhi, Haryana and Punjab. — PTI
