Students take part in quiz to mark Constitution Day

On Constitution Day, a district-level quiz contest was organised by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Barnala, at YS College under the guidance of District and Sessions Judge (DSJ) Virinder Aggarwal, who is also the Chairman of the DLSA.

Students from 161 schools, including 90 government and 71 private schools, took part in the competition. Virinder Aggarwal said Constitution Day, also known as Savidhan Divas, was celebrated in India on November 26 every year to commemorate adoption of the Constitution. He said on 26 November in 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution, which came into effect on January 26 the next year.

Virinder Aggarwal said on November 18 this year, a school-level quiz competition was held on the Constitution to select teams for block-level contests. On November 23, block-level quiz competitions were held in Barnala, Mehal Kalan and Sehna blocks. Six top teams from each group in these competitions were selected to participate in the district-level competition.

Arun Gupta, Additional District and Sessions Judge; Lalit Kumar Singla, District Judge (Family Court), Barnala; Barjinder Pal Singh, Additional District and Sessions Judge; Rupinder Singh, CJM-cum-Secretary of the DLSA; and Sarabjit Singh Toor, District Education Officer, Barnala, were also present on the occasion.

In the quiz, questions on the Constitution were posed to students. Those who answered correctly were rewarded.

In the competition, from Group A (Class IX and X), Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Hamidi, bagged frist position, Sarvotam Academy School, Khuddi Kalan, came second and Government High School, Tapa, was given a consolation prize.

Similarly, from Group B (Class XI and Class 12), GSSS Raisar, got first position, GSSS, Pharwahi, bagged second position and GSSS, Moom, got a consolation prize.
