Students sensitised to constitutional values

To mark the 70th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of India, the Central University of Punjab celebrated Constitution Day on November 26 under the patronage of Chancellor Prof SS Johl.

On the day, the varsity’s Department of Law and the NSS wing, under the directions of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), organised special programmes to sensitise people to values and precepts enshrined in the Constitution.

Head of the department Dr Deepak K Chauhan said: “The university’s faculty, NSS volunteers and students from various departments read the Preamble of the Constitution and attended a live screening of Prime Minister’s address from the Parliament House. ”

A lecture on topic, ‘Guru Nanak Dev’s philosophy and the Indian Constitution’, was also organised. Dr Tarun Arora, Associate Professor, said constitutional perspective and Guru Nanak’s philosophy were linked to each other, as both aimed at eradication of social evils, equal distribution of resources and justice to all.
