Bathinda, February 28

The SAD is organising a series of protest rallies against the government in the state. As part of it, the party will hold a protest rally at Thermal Stadium here on March 1. Local leaders are looking after the preparations for the rally. On Friday, former Cabinet minister Sikander Singh Maluka and Sukhbir Badal’s adviser Charanjit Singh Brar, along with local leaders, visited the rally venue.

Maluka said, “People are disappointed with the working of the Congress government as it has failed to fulfil even its one poll promise. During the Assembly elections, Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh had promised people to give unemployment allowance, waive debt and end the drug menace in the state. Forget about giving new benefits, the government has done away with the initiatives started by the previous SAD-BJP government.”

Maluka said a large number of blue cards had been cancelled due to which people from the poor section were upset with the government. Apart from this, the government had imposed several new taxes. It had also increased power tariff, putting additional economic burden on the public.

Talking about the protest rallies, Brar said, “Now, people in the state are of the view that the SAD-BJP is important for the development and prosperity of every section in the state. In future, people will not vote for the Congress due to its false promises. The protest rallies of the SAD are getting a great response.”

Former chairman of Bathinda Zila Parishad Gurpreet Singh Maluka said the protest rally in the city would be historic in terms of the crowd. He said apart from the entire party leadership, youngsters in large numbers would attend the rally.
