Muktsar, January 17

Residents of Kakhanwali village on Friday held a protest outside the Lambi police station after the police arrested the president of an anti-drug committee formed by the residents.

Meeto Bai, a resident of the same village, had charged Ravinder Singh, Amandeep Singh and Sukha Ram of stealing her goat a few months ago. Thereafter, they allegedly exchanged heated arguments. Later, Meeto Bai lodged a complaint with the State SC Commission and thereafter a case was registered against them.

Meanwhile, the police on Friday arrested Ravinder Singh. Angry residents held a protest outside police station against the police action. They claimed that the case was registered on the basis of false allegations. Later, the SHO of the police station assured the protesters that a meeting would be held with the SSP on Saturday.
